Extremists pose threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty: Haqqani

WASHINGTON: The Pakistani envoy to US Husain Haqqani has said that the people of Pakistan dislike US’s dictation in regard to the establishment of writ of the government and US involvement into the internal affairs of country.

In an interview to a UK television channel, Haqqani said extremists have posed serious threats to the sovereignty of the state of Pakistan.

“Pakistan-US intelligence agencies have improved their mutual understanding more this year in comparison to 2008 and are now dealing in grater extent of cooperation”, he divulged adding, “The government of Pakistan is in discussion with US administration over issue of drone attacks as they have turned serious violation of state’s sovereignty”.

“Pakistan will keep its autonomy ahead besides maintaining better Pak-US relations”, he hinted.

To a question asking the graph of President Zardari’s popularity in Pakistan, he said no corruption charges have been leveled on him (Zardari) following his charge of office.
