Rs620b set aside for development project in next budget

ISLAMABAD: The rate of economic growth remained pegged at two percent during the current fiscal year, the federal finance ministry briefed Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday.

However, despite the critical economic circumstances, at least Rs70 billion would be set aside in the upcoming budget for the poor and Rs54 billion for the rehabilitation of the Swat affectees.

It should be mentioned that the PM visited the main office of the federal ministry, where he was briefed over the on the national economic situation and preparations of budget for the new fiscal year.

The high-ups including the Adviser to the Prime Minister of Finance, Shaukat Tarin and Minister of State for Finance and Economic Affairs Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar briefed the premier.

The finance adviser said Rs620 billion would be spent on the development projects in the next budget and economic growth rate in the next fiscal year has been set at 3.3 percent.
